Arlington Oasis

The (Lazy) Investigator [[Continue]]

You are an aspiring investigator that moved into [[Arlington Oasis]] a few months ago. You have a job as an assitant for [[Mayor Howard King]]. You are also extremely lazy and pessimistic. The workplace has been busy lately because there is a [[serial killer]] on the loose. So far there have been three murders. One day, while you are working you overhear a conversation between Mayor King and his securityguard, [[Bill]], tells you about a "John Doe" that survived a murder attempt and is currently hospitalized. You also know there is a cute and clumsy nurse named [[Angel]] that works at the hosptial. [[(Investigate) Go on "break" to investigate the John Doe]] [[(Ignore) Continue doing your job]]

Your current residence. Arlington Oasis is a small and rural town. Not many people are aware of it's existence. It's a middle-class area despite the futuristic technology that you can barely understand. There are about 150 residents living in the Oasis part of Arlington.

The mayor of Arlington Oasis. Mayor King is a old, white male in his 50's. quite stubborn and has a temper on him. He never takes it out on you though. He is a natural born leader and does his job well. He likes talking to children. Not in a creepy and child-molester kind of way. He tries to fit in and learn "young slang." You are currently working as his assistant and have a mutual respect for eachother.

Bill is a muscular, African-American man in his early 30's. He is mayor King's security guard and has a big temper on him. Usually he is intimidating to his co-workers. However, he is never stern or cold towards Mayor King. Often, he'll give you a hard time over minor inconveniences. The two of you do not get along.

You go on your break and drive to the hospital where John Doe is. You encounter one of the nurses, Angel. "Hi, are you here to visit someone?" Angel says to you. [[(Lie) Yes, I'm a private investigator, I'm here to see the man who was almost murdered.]] [[(Tell Truth) I heard someone almost got murdered. I want to know more about him.]] [[(Leave) Sorry, wrong place.]]

Later in the day, a lawyer named [[Karen Jacobs]], asks to speak with the mayor for urgent matters. Bill walks up to her and asks her to leave. "For the last time, you lost the case. He was found as innocent. Just let it be Jacobs." "Fuck off, Bill. He is GUILTY. I have proof now. He needs to be retrialed." Bill sighs. "The beauty of double jeopardy Jacobs. You gotta go." Karen Jacobs storms out. "What are you lookin' at? Get back to work." [[(Ignore) Return to your work, no conflict needed.]] [[(Pop off) You roll your eyes and say "You get payed the same ammount as me. You don't get to tell me what to do.]]

Angel is a young blonde woman in her mid-20's. She's nice, clumsy, and soft-spoken. She recently moved to Arlington Oasis about two months ago and works at a nurse at the Oasis hospital. Angel does not know who you are but you know who she is. However, the huge time difference in your schedules makes it nearly impossible to find a good time to speak with her.

"Oh, uuhhh, alright! Right this way then!" Angel takes you to room 107 where [[the man]] awakens. "Who are you? Where am I?" You introduce yourself to him as a private investigator. Then, you ask for his name and details on the culprits. "I don't remember... anything. Someone tried to kill me? Shit man, I don't even remember my own name." He doesn't remember his own name? You ask him what he does remember. "I remember.... The Whispers." "The what?" Angel asks him. Someone clearly hit his head so hard with the attempt of silencing him. You tell him you'll visit him again tomorrow. You exit the hospital and [[return to work.]]

You leave the hospital and [[return to work.]]

"Sorry I'm not supposed to allow you to go in..." You explain to her that you are an aspiring investigator needing a big break. "Well... None of the other sheriffs are coming... I mean I guess I can take you, just don't get me in trouble..!" Angel takes you to room 107 where [[the man]] awakens. "Who are you? Where am I?" You introduce yourself to him as an aspiring investigator. Then, you ask for his name and details on the culprits. "I don't remember... anything. Someone tried to kill me? Shit man, I don't even remember my own name." He doesn't remember his own name? You ask him what he does remember. "I remember.... The Whispers." "The what?" Angel asks him. No information on this man. So far, he does not remember anything, even his name.

Karen Jacobs is a 30-year-old latina woman. She is a prosecutor for Arlington Oasis and is known to succcessfuly prosecute all of her opponents except for one, whom she holds a grudge against.

You ignore Bill and continue your work. After your shift is over you leave the office. [[Go Home and sleep]] [[Visit the local medium]] The local medium is [[Madame Mimi]] [[Buy Drugs]] Your drug dealer is [[Bird]]

"THE FUCK YOU JUST SAY TO ME PUNK?" He punches you in the face, causing you to blackout. After some time, you wake up and your shift is already over. [[Go Home and sleep]] [[Visit the local medium]] The local medium is [[Madame Mimi]] [[Buy Drugs]] Your drug dealer is [[Bird]]

You go home, eat dinner, watch some sitcoms then fall asleep on the couch. While on the couch, you wonder if the serial killer could be someone you know. Perhaps the mayor? Bill? Bird? Jacobs? Angel? Mimi? [[The Next Day]]

You enter Madame Mimi's tent. You pay Mimi for her servies and she looks into her orb. "In an isolated, cold, dark room You will face two choices within the dark. You must choose between betrayal and despair. While death hovers near.” You leave with your fortune, go home and pass out on your bed. [[The Next Day]]

"Wassup Brethren" Bird says to you. You ask for the usual. "Oh now we limin'!" He says. He gives you a baggie of marijuana. "Yo, you know where I was just at?" [[No]] [[Sure...]] [[(Question) So how do you and Karen know eachother?]]

No information at this point. So far, there have been several victims.

Bradley Yates, better known as "Bird" is a 23-year-old white man, often times wearing a beanie. Bird is naturally social and extroverted. He is also your drug dealer and considers you one of his closest friends. You are a regular customer of his and frequently purchase marijuana from him.

You are sitting at your desk. You overhear a conversation between mayor King and Bill. "JOHN DOE'S BEEN KILLED?" The mayor shouts. "HOW? HOW DOES SOMEONE WHO HAS NOT EVEN BEEN IDENTIFIED BEEN KILLED?" You've never seen Bill this timid. "I-I don't know...Time of death was 2:00AM after hours." [[Stick up for Bill]] [[Go to the hospital]]

A African-French woman in her early 50's. She is a fortuneteller and medium who you often spend time with because you find it amusing. She speaks in broken English and resides in a caravan, which is heavily decorated and accompanied by a circus tent.

You leave and go home. When you get home you smoke out of your bong and pass out on your couch. [[The Next Day->The Next Day 1]]

"An Orgy." Bird says. "I fucked so many bitches! I'm so wasted, ya hear?" You let out an uncomfortable chuckle and leave. You go home and sit down on your bed. You don't even feel like smoking anymore and go to sleep. [[The Next Day->The Next Day 1]]

"Mayor King. I can take care of this. How can I be of assistance." You say to the mayor in a soft tone. "Sorry. I lost my temper. Forgive me, Bill." the mayor says. Bill nods at you. Karen Jacobs enters the office. "Mayor King" She sternly says. "I've figured out your culprit since you idiots can't do your jobs." "Enlighten us, Jacobs." The mayor sarcastically says. "It's Bradley Yates, better known by his nickanme 'Bird'." Jacobs asserts. "I was spying on him last night and I saw him enter the hospital last night where your doe was murdered. I have proof too. Heres a photo of him leaving the hospital." "We can't make an arrest but we can bring him in to talk." The mayor sends a sheriff to bring in Bird. The mayor asks you to get information on the John Doe in the morgue. [[You leave to to go the hospital->Go to the hospital]]

You go "on your break" again to the hosptial and see Angel. She shows you his body in the morgue. "Who could have done this... This is tragic. Dying without remembering your name..." Angel says teary eyed. You ask Angel who was working the night shift last night, which she admits she was working a double shift. "I didn't hear anything, I swear! I was watching the front the whole time, occasionally checking in the patients. The most time I was gone from the desk was five minutes..." You find a note in the mouth of the corpse. "Greed" You ask Angel to see the other victims. A note that says "Greed" is present on all of the other victims mouth. You gather all the intel you need. [[Go back to the office]]

"Bird was with me last night during 2AM. He also said he had plans before we metup. He isn't the serial killer." You say to everyone. "Well there you go Jacobs, get outta here or Bill will show you the way out." Karen storms out the office. The mayor asks you to get information on the John Doe in the morgue. [[You leave to to go the hospital->HOSPITAL2]]

As you enter the office, mayor King pulls you aside. You ask about Bird. "Listen, son... When we got there... He had overdosed. I'm sorry, kid. I know you knew him. You can take the rest of the day off, payrolls a bitch anyway." You leave and... [[(Investigate) Go to the scene of the crime: Bird's house]] [[(Say your goodbyes) Go to the local medium]]

As you enter the office, you notice Bird in cuffs. "AYE MAN I'M INNOCENT I PLEAD THE FIFTH." You ask the mayor what's going on. He tells you that Jacobs was in the office with evidence against Bird on the murders. You tell the mayor that Bird was with you at the time of the murder. "Damnit... JANET!" Mayor King screams. "JANET! I'm tired of this woman. I want her behind bars. Get her!" "Yes sir." Janet says as she leaves with a team of officers. "Nice work, kid." King says to you. After a long day of work and your shift is done you... [[Hang out with Bird]] [[Go home and sleep->SLEEP1]] [[Visit the local medium->MED1]]

"Hey man. Glad you hit me up." You smile at him. The two of you smoke for a while. He turns to you and flirtatiously says "Hey... Just so you know, I smashed guys AND girls at the orgy I was at yesterday." [[(Uncomfortable) K. Move to the other side of the couch.]] [[(Romance) Eh, why not.]]

You go home, eat dinner, watch some sitcoms then fall asleep on the couch. [[The Next Day->DAY2A]]

You enter Madame Mimi's tent. You pay Mimi for her services and she looks into her orb. "On the seventh hour You will accompany an ally to keep them from being lonely Beware solitude above all. You have the most to fear when you are alone with another.” You leave with your fortune, go home and pass out on your bed. [[The Next Day->DAY2A]]

You look around Bird's place and discover his drugs had not been touched. Bird did not overdose on his own drugs. You realize Bird was murdered and rush back to the mayor. [[Back to the Office]]

You go to Madame Mimi's tent and request a seance for Bird. After ten minutes, the seance is prepared. You say your goodbyes and apologize to Bird. The room lights up and trembles. [[You leave and go home->Be escorted home]]

You tell the mayor your discoveries. He's slightly mad you went rogue but sends one of his deputies to make an arrest for Karen Jacobs. Afterwards, he sends another officer to escort you home. [[Be escorted home]]

You go home and fall asleep. [[The Next Day->DAY2]]

"It was a joke! So sensitive." You and Bird play video games. Afterwards, you go home and pass out on your couch. [[The Next Day->DAY2A]]

You and Bird have passionate sex and spend the night over. [[The Next Day->DAY2A]]

You show up to work late. The mayor pulls you aside and tells you the killer has claimed another victim. Karen Jacobs. He tells you to go to the hospital to retreive her case file. When you arrive at the hospital you are greeted by Angel. She pulls you aside into the morgue and tells you Karen had a new note. "Greed. All of my victims are guilty. Your victim was innocent. You pay the price With your life." You look at the corpse and nearly vomit. She has been fully dismembered. "The woman that found her says her body parts were scattered around a playground... What if a child saw that?!?! We need to catch this monster..." Angel says to you. "Karen Jacobs is a unique victim." You think to yourself. It had to be someone who knows about her grudge against Bird... ...Meaning everyone at the office is a prime suspect. [[You take the case file for Karen Jacobs and return to the office.]]

Near the end of your shift you receive a phone call from Angel You answer and she says "Hey... I have an idea. All of the victims of the killer are deemed as greedy right?" "What if we stalk someone who is embodied with greed?" You think it's a good idea to catch the killer "Like who?" You say to her. "I don't know anyone who's greedy... I guess I didn't think this far ahead." [[(Mayor King) Follow the mayor home.]] [[(Bill) Follow Bill home.]] [[(Dismiss Idea) Dumb idea.]]

"Mayor King. I'll follow him home and spy on him." You follow mayor King home and spy on him in his backyard. After a few hours of him trying to learn how to 'twerk' and 'floss' he goes to bed. Waste of time. Suddenly, you recieve a call from an unknown caller. You answer it. "Angel. I have her captive. 7410 Hens St. 20 Minutes. Or she dies. Then you're next." The caller says in a disoriented voice then hangs up The address is an abandoned house. [[You rush over.]]

"Mayor King's security guard, Bill. I'll follow him home and spy on him." You follow Bill home and spy on him from your car. Bill has a daughter and a wife! He doesn't seem like a family man. They sit down for dinner and say prayers. You see a new side of Bill. Suddenly, you recieve a call from an unknown caller. You answer it. "Angel. I have her captive. 7410 Hens St. 20 Minutes. Or she dies. Then you're next." The caller says in a disoriented voice then hangs up. The address is an abandoned house. Suddenly, Bill is outside your car and smashes your window then grabs you by your shirt. "YOU BETTER HAVE A REAL DAMN GOOD REASON WHY YOU'RE HERE" You quickly apologize and tell Bill the situation. "Damn... Sorry. We gotta end this." [[(Hop in) Hurry up and get in the car, Bill!]] [[(Drive off)This is my problem. Keep your family safe, Bill.]]

You tell Angel that she shouldn't chase this and hang up. You go home and you sit on your couch contemplating life for a while. Suddenly, you recieve a call from an unknown caller. You answer it. "Angel. I have her captive. 7410 Hens St. 20 Minutes. Or she dies. Then you're next." The caller says in a disoriented voice then hangs up The address is an abandoned house. [[You rush over.]]

"Bird. I'll go to his place and spy on him." You arrive at Bird's place and spy on him from your car. After a while you see him just get high and laugh at mediocre cartoons. [[(Continue) Continue watching Bird do nothing from your car.]] [[(Fall asleep) He'll be alive when I wake up.]] [[(Horny) Go in and have sex with Bird.]]

You arrive at the abandoned house alone. You look around for Angel. Suddenly, the backdeck lights turn on. Angel is tied up to a chair and a shadowy figure is behind her. [[Save Her!]]

You quickly open the door and tackle the killer to the ground. You realize it's a manniquen, but it's too late. Angel stabs you in the back with a kitchen knife. "Told you to stay still." You are shocked. Angel is the killer. "H-How..? Why...?!" You mutter to her. "Did you read any of the fucking notes? Greed. Everyone is infected with it. That bitch Karen wanted your friend dead so badly she was willing to fucking lie about it! The guy at the hospital cheated on my sister with some whore. My sister killed herself and I killed them. Don't you see? I'm just taking out the trash. However... You know who I am now... And, well I kinda like killing and don't want to stop. So I'm going to have to kill you now unfortunately." [[(Plea) You can't! Your victims are only embodied with greed. I'm not greedy!]] [[(Fight back) Kick her in the tit]] [[(Join) I won't stop you. I agree with you. They all deserved it. As long as I'm alive I will be by your side.]]

You stay still. Not a single step. Suddenly the lights turn off. "ANGEL! DON'T YOU DARE HURT HER!" You shout at the killer. The lights turn back on. Angel is untied and the shadowy figure was just a manniquen. You are shocked. Angel is the killer. "H-How..? Why...?!" You mutter to her. "Did you read any of the fucking notes? Greed. Everyone is infected with it. That bitch Karen wanted your friend dead so badly she was willing to fucking lie about it! The guy at the hospital cheated on my sister with some whore. My sister killed herself and I killed them. Don't you see? I'm just taking out the trash. However... You know who I am now... And, well I kinda like killing and don't want to stop. "You're right. I only kill people embodied with greed." She says to you as she helps you up. "You're such a fuckin' baby." She says to you before stabbing you in the stomach. "Die, ugly." [[Die]]

You kick Angel in her chest. She falls back and drops her knife. The both of you fight for the knife. Suddenly, a woman tied up emerges from the closet having busted down the door with her head. You are both distracted. However, she remains distracted a split-second longer allowing you to get the upper hand. You take the knife and after a brief struggle, plunge it into her chest. "Farewell, Angel." You say to her corpse. [[You call the authorities.]]

"Prove it." Angel says to you. Angel walks over to the closet and takes out a woman with her mouth tied shut. "She's an escort. I was gonna kill her myself later, but you have the honors. Don't try anything smart either. I've seen how you punch. You're pretty shit." [[(Strangle the woman) New year, new life. I'm a killer now.]] [[(Betray Angel) Try and kill Angel.]]

You strangle and kill the woman. You liked the feeling this brings you. You and Angel leave the house, holding hands as it sets ablaze. [[The next day]]

You kick Angel in her chest. She falls back and drops her knife. The both of you fight for the knife. The woman manages to use her body to trip Angel allowing you to get the upper hand. You take the knife and after a brief struggle, plunge it into her chest. "Farewell, Angel." You say to her corpse. [[You call the authorities.]]

You are dead. The End.

You join Angel in her murderous adventures. More and more bodys begin to rise as you both kill people you deem embodied with greed. You and Angel remain uncaught. The End.

The authorities arrive. Mayor King congratulates you on catching the killer. You go home and finally have a good nights sleep, knowing the killer has been stopped. The End.

"WHAT DO YOU WANT?" You scream at the killer. No response. Angel pleads for you to stay still or she'll die. Bill recklessly and quickly runs towards the door and tackles the killer to the ground. The lights turn off and multiple knife thrusts... [[The lights turn back on]]

Angel is untied and the shadowy figure was just a manniquen. She is standing over Bill's corpse who has been stabbed multiple times. You are shocked. Angel is the killer. "H-How..? Why...?!" You mutter to her. "Did you read any of the fucking notes? Greed. Everyone is infected with it. That bitch Karen wanted your friend dead so badly she was willing to fucking lie about it! The guy at the hospital cheated on my sister with some whore. My sister killed herself and I killed them. Don't you see? I'm just taking out the trash. However... You know who I am now... And, well I kinda like killing and don't want to stop. So I'm going to have to kill you now unfortunately." [[(Plea) You can't! Your victims are only embodied with greed. "Ugh, that bitch has been on my case FOREVA!" Bird tells you as he pulls out a joint. "One of my clients overdosed and she tried pinning it as a murder. ON ME! Can you believe that?! I didn't do nothin'." After a long conversation with Bird, You go home and go to sleep. [[The Next Day->The Next Day 1]]
